Laurie Hellsten Rolander, age 71, of Imlay City died Saturday, April 15, 2023 at her home. Laurie Lynn Hellsten was born March 16, 1952 in Manistique, MI. She was the daughter of the late Bernard ‘Ben’ and the late Margaret ‘Peggy’ (Rydquist) Hellsten. Laurie grew up in Imlay City, MI. She was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1970. Laurie lived in Raleigh, NC for 30-plus years and moved back to the Imlay City, MI area in 2015.
She was employed as a buyer by Hudson Belk Department Store in North Carolina.
Laurie loved her Pomeranian dog, Phoebe, and enjoyed going to casinos. She was on a bowling league and went semi-pro for a while.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Chuck) Howe of NC; sisters, Holly (Bryan) Connroy of Royal Oak, MI and Dana (Randy) White of Blue Field, WV; her brother, Buster Hellsten of Imlay City, MI; grandchildren, Hayden (Kristina) Howe and Emma Howe; great-granddaughter, Selena Howe; and her nieces and nephews, Timothy (Mellonie) Edwards, Zach Dirkse, Taylor Dirkse (great-nephew Casey Blake), Madison Cregger, Ryan Cregger, and Justin Cregger.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Peggy Hellsten; and her sister, Tracey Jill Hellsten.
A memorial service is not planned at this time.
