ALMONT — Almont notched a pair of road triumphs against Yale in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity softball doubleheader on Tuesday, April 11.
In the opener, Almont obtained a 5-0 win against Yale.
Elly Schapman (a single and a three-run homer) paced Almont’s offensive attack. She was backed by Grace Koenig, Kendall Roszczewski and Brooklyn Bunch (one single each).
Myah McLean was Almont’s pitcher of record. She gave up four hits, struck out three and walked none over the seven-inning distance.
McLean tied her school’s career record with 13 shutouts, matching 2017 graduate Veronica Watson for that distinction.
In the second game, Almont picked up an 11-1 victory over Yale.
Johnston (two triples and a homer), Roszczewski (three singles), Koenig (a single and a triple), Bunch (a single and a triple) and Schapman (a pair of singles) put up Almont’s best plate credentials. The Raiders also had Lydia LaCavera, Kylie Tennant, Lauren Webster and Gabby Carlson (a single apiece) reach the hitting column.
With the outcomes, Almont goes to 2-0 versus BWAC rivals and overall.
