Kathleen “Kathy” Skipinski, age 71, of Dryden, MI, died Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen Carrie Hallock was born October 9, 1951 in Bad Axe, MI. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Gerald and Annabelle Diefenbach. Kathy grew up in the Owendale, Gagetown, Pigeon, MI area (in the thumb area of Michigan). She was a graduate of Laker High School in Pigeon, MI, Class of 1969. She married Thomas Skipinski on October 25, 1969 in Ubly, MI. Kathy and Thomas lived in Troy and Washington Twp., MI before moving to Dryden in 2003.
She was employed as a beautician for 30 years and owned That Special Touch in Washington Twp., MI for 10 years. Kathy was a member of Gateway Assembly of God in Imlay City, MI. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Caribbean beaches. Kathy liked to scrapbook and most of all, spend time with her grandchildren.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Thomas Skipinski; daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Hayes of Aurora, IL and Brenda (Scott) Mathews of Ray Township, MI; her son, Brian (Stacy) Skipinski of Arrington, TN; her grandchildren, Skylar, Samantha, Steven, Kevin, Braeden and Kellen; and seven siblings.
She was preceded in death by her uncle and aunt, Gerald and Annabelle Diefenbach; parents, Howard and Wava Diefenbach; and two brothers.
The funeral service was held Monday, April 3, 2023 at Gateway Assembly of God, 2796 S. Van Dyke, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Jeff Krist, pastor of Gateway Assembly of God, officiated. Interment followed at Christian Memorial Gardens West Cemetery in Rochester Hills.
Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
