Helen Marise Seidell, 97, of Capac, MI, passed away on March 22, 2023 at The Orchards – Armada Village. She was born October 25, 1925, the daughter of Everett and Irla (Sperry) Henderson. Helen married Herbert Donald Seidell on October 19, 1946 at the Capac First United Methodist Church.
Helen grew up in Memphis and Capac, MI. She graduated from Capac High School in 1943, received her bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Michigan University and her master’s degree from Oakland University. Her teaching career spanned 30 years within the Capac Elementary School as a second grade teacher.
She was a lifetime member of the Half Century Club. Throughout her life, Helen remained steadfast in support of her family’s activities, encouraging them in their many events. During her retirement, Helen enjoyed many happy years at her cottage in Houghton Lake and her condo in Arizona. Hobbies included reading books, golfing, playing cards, and entertaining family and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2018; her sister, Dorothy Falter; and her brother, Herbert Henderson.
She is survived by her three children, James Donald Seidell of Brown City, Mary Sue (Charles) Markey of Midland and Kay Ellen (Douglas) Drogosch of Mancelona/Fountain Hills, AZ. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Markey and Jacqueline Markey; step-grandchild Eric Drogosch; and great-grandchildren Kimiko, Evi, and Ace Markey.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28 at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac.
Memorials suggested by the family are Capac Friends of the Library and the Brown City Foundation for Educational Excellence.
