ALMONT — Matthew Bacholzky, a freshman at Almont High School, competed at the USA Track and Field National Youth Indoor Championships recently.

The meet was contested March 17-19 at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Competing in the 15-16 age group, Bacholzky obtained a third in the long jump (19 feet 1 1/4 inches) and registered an eighth versus 400-meter dash foes (55.91 seconds). He reached the 400 dash finals with a preliminary clocking of 55.13 seconds, a personal-best.

The top-six finishers in each race earned medals for their performances and received All-America honors from the USATF.
