Open Mic live auditions this Friday eve at Johnny’s Place

IMLAY CITY — Musicians, singers, bands and other musical performers have a chance to showcase their talents and vie for open spots on the Imlay City Summer Fest stage this Friday.

Local youth musicians of 3rd Degree Burns take the stage during summer festival in Imlay City. Area musicians, singers and musical performers are sought for this year’s festival.

An ‘Open Mic Audition Night’ is planned beginning around 5 p.m., Friday, March 24 at Johnny’s Place restaurant.

Festival organizers are eager to bring local talent to this year’s Festival, which is slated for August 11-12 downtown. The annual summer fest is hosted by the Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce, and is coordinated by the Chamber and volunteers.

Vicki Sefcovic, chair of the Festival Kids and Contests Committee, says they’re hoping to unveil the wide variety of talent available in the Tri-City area throughout the Summer Fest.

“We’re looking for singers, bands, groups, duos, anyone who has musical talent and likes to perform,” she says. “It will be run like any other audition and performers are welcome to come out and show their talents.”

All musical styles and genres are welcome, Sefcovic adds, and the committee is looking to fill several 45 minute spots at the festival.

Musicians and performers interested in auditioning should arrive at Johnny’s Place between 5-6 p.m. to sign up. Open mic begins around 7 p.m.

“Come share your music and have a great night at Johnny’s Place with us,” Sefcovic says.

Those interested in volunteering for this year’s Imlay City Summer Fest are also encouraged to stop in at Johnny’s Place this Friday or call the Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce at 810-542-3256.

Johnny’s Place restaurant is located at 145 E. Capac Road (Old M-21) in Imlay City.
