Alphonso “Sam” Moss, age 70, of Imlay City, MI died Friday, March 17, 2023 at McLaren Flint Region Medical Center of Flint, MI. Alphonso Moss was born January 25, 1953 in Ocilla, GA. He was the son of the late Willie B. and the late Kathleen (Fussel) Moss. Sam was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1972. Sam lived most of his life in the Imlay City area. He had lived and worked in Flint, while raising his family.
Sam retired from IDF Cleanup Services of Imlay City in 2013. Sam was a truck driver for IDF Cleanup Services, a construction recycling and waste removal service. He had also worked at Ford Motor Company, Vlasic Foods in Imlay City, and Otis Carpeting in Flint as a carpet layer.
Sam is survived by: his son, Anthony (Amanda) Moss of Flint, MI; Anthony’s mother, Constance Hartley; Anthony’s siblings, James (Tina) Hartley of Flushing, MI and Rocky Hartley of Flint, MI; sisters, JoAnn (Dean) Ford of Romeo, MI, Annabelle Patton of San Bernardino, California, Ida Moss of Imlay City, MI, Mary Moss-Cushingberry of Sterling Heights, MI, Sandra Moss of San Bernardino, California, and Catherine Moss of Sterling Heights, MI; his sisters-in-law, LaSharna Moss of Kansas, Marilyn Moss of Livonia, MI, and Sue Moss of Deford, MI; brother-in-law, Robert Nettles of Imlay City, MI; his grandchildren: Layla Rose Moss, Hazel Renee Moss; and extended family, Burkes and Tuggle families.
Sam was preceded in death by: his parents, Willie and Kathleen Moss; brothers: Willie Moss, Jr., Tommie Moss, Ricky Moss; and brother-in-law, Phil Patton.
The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main St., Imlay City, MI. Burial will follow in Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City.
The family will be available for visitation 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
A Celebration of Life for Alphonso “Sam” and Ricky Moss will take place Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Imlay City Eagles, 170 S. Almont Ave., Imlay City, MI.
