Rafael Renteria-Sanchez, age 38, of Imlay City, died suddenly Friday, March 3, 2023 at McLaren Oakland Hospital of Pontiac, MI. Rafael Armando Renteria-Sanchez was born May 28, 1984 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He is the son of Rafael and Maria Alicia (Sanchez-Bermejo) Renteria-Avila. Rafael grew up in Trejos, Jalisco, Mexico. His family moved to the Imlay City, MI area about 20 years ago.

Rafael was recently employed as a cook by Art & Jakes Restaurant in Clarkston for a short period of time. He worked for Lucky’s Steak House in Imlay City as a cook for 20 years. Rafael worked at Hardscaping and Landscaping for 2-3 years as well. He loved his children.

Rafael is survived by: sons, Rafael Eduardo Renteria of Imlay City, MI and Aaron Armando Renteria of Imlay City, MI; daughter, Roselin Renteria of Imlay City, MI; his parents, Rafael and Maria Alicia (Sanchez-Bermejo) Renteria-Avila, both of Mexico; sister, Ana Laura (Renan) Renteria-Sanchez of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his brothers, Arnulfo Daniel Renteria-Sanchez of Mexico and Oscar Eduardo Renteria-Sanchez of Mexico; and the mother of his children, Alma Hernandez of Imlay City, MI.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI. Rev. Fr. Noel Cornelio will officiate. Burial will be in Trejos, Jalisco, Mexico next week.

The family will be available for visitation 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
