CAPAC — Capac 106-pounder Tyler McKenney registered a seventh-place finish at the Division 4 individual wrestling state finals.
Ford Field, in Detroit, hosted the two-day tournament which ran last Friday and Saturday.
McKenney started things off Friday by pinning Benzie Central’s Dayne Gillison with 56 seconds gone.
He then fell to 1-1 when he was pinned by Martin’s Logan Gilbert, the eventual runnerup, with 4:40 gone.
McKenney followed that up with a 6-0 victory over Oscoda’s Jhonas Williams,
Those results placed McKenney in Saturday’s action.
It was there he lost a 4-1 verdict to White Pigeon’s Mazzy Lambert, the eventual fourth-place finisher.
McKenney then met Manchester’s Onyx Ostum for seventh place honors. That clash wound down with McKenney ahead 9-5.
For his performance, McKenney garnered All-State honors (given to the top-eight finishers in each weight class).
McKenney concluded the season with a 38-12 mark.
