ALMONT — Almont made visiting Algonac absorb a 64-40 loss in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys’ basketball confrontation last Saturday night.
With the decision. Almont improves to 7-14 and 3-10.
In Saturday’s confrontation, Almont bolted out to a 25-8 advantage after one quarter was over with and stretched their lead to 45-17 at the half.
Algonac then bounced back with a 23-19 second half edge, only to drop a 64-40 verdict.
Clay Roszczewski led Almont with 26 points that evening. He drained four triples along the way.
His performance helped improve his season point total to 419, a school record. Larry Kersten had held the former mark, tossing in 414 points during the 1956-57 campaign.
Chase Davedowski (12 points, including three trifectas) and Sully Szlaga (10) posted the next highest Almont point totals against Algonac. They were backed by Isaiah Bankston (four points), Cam Bourdeau and Manny Goldstein (three points each) along with Owen Rayl, Jason Lane and Marko Radisavljevic (two apiece).
