CAPAC — Capac outlasted visiting Mayville, 40-38, in a non-league varsity girls’ basketball battle on Tuesday, February 14.

With the result, Capac raises their mark to 3-14 and 1-10.

In Tuesday’s battle, Capac spotted Mayville a 9-8 edge after one quarter was over with and trailed 21-15 at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Capac struck with a 9-8 third quarter edge. That trimmed their deficit to 29-24 with 24 minutes gone.

Capac followed it up with a 9-4 fourth quarter advantage, evening the score at 33-33 at the end of regulation.

In overtime, Capac netted seven points and Mayville managed five. That left the former with a 40-38 win at night’s end.

Julia Schaefer (17 points, with three triples) and Makayla Phillips (11) proved Capac’s toughest players to stop. They were backed by Chloe Schocke (nine points, including three trifectas) and Guadalupe Rosales (a trey).
