Aaron Smith, age 44, of Lum, MI died Friday, February 17, 2023 in Lapeer, MI. Aaron Raymond Smith was born June 22, 1978 in Rochester, MI. He was the son of Larry Dean and Sharon Lee (Colip) Smith. Aaron grew up and lived much of his life in the Lum area of Michigan. He was a graduate of North Branch High School, Class of 1997. He continued his education at Michigan Tech University where he earned his associate degree in forestry. He then attended Central Michigan University working towards a bachelor’s degree in the school of business.

Aaron worked for the Marriott Resort in Vail, CO for eight years before returning home. After returning home, he has been working locally as a carpenter in home remodeling. Aaron was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend time hunting and fishing with his friends and family. Aaron loved his family and friends and especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephew. He will be sorely missed.

Aaron is survived by his parents, Larry and Sharon Smith of Lum, MI; his sister, Kendal Smith of Lapeer, MI; his brother, Ryan (Stacey) Smith of Fenton, MI; nieces and nephew, Shelby Smith, Callie Smith, Blakely Smith and Foster Smith.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Ruth Smith and Letha Kuta.

The memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 275 Bancroft Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor David Forsberg will be officiating.

The family will be available for visiting hours from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 275 Bancroft Street, Imlay City, MI.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions may consider making them to Lapeer County Animal Shelter or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
