Ardis Marie (Winn) Bishop, 90, of Attica, went to be with her beloved husband and family in heaven on February 3, 2023. Ardis was born on October 17, 1932, to Floyd and Pauline (King) Winn in St. Clair County. She attended school from kindergarten through 8th grade in a one room schoolhouse with her teacher, Miss Bernadine Rutkofske, who impacted her life greatly. She attended Memphis High School where she graduated as the Salutatorian of her class. Ardis credited Miss Bernadine for her love of learning.
She married Willard (Bill) in Columbus, MI, at the Columbus Baptist Church on October 4, 1952.
Ardis earned a nursing degree and worked her way up to being the Head Training Nurse at Lapeer Regional Hospital. In her retirement, she was active with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and in her church community. Bill and Ardis loved to travel with family and friends and enjoyed their winters in Sarasota, Florida with their Tri-Par community. She was an amazing woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was kind, sweet and generous to anyone she met.
She is survived by son, Curtis of Attica; son, Jeffrey of Attica; grandson, Joshua (Melissa) Bishop of South Carolina; great-granddaughters, Cecilia and Eliana Bishop of South Carolina; brother, Scott (Melisa) Winn of Traverse City; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Willard (Bill) Bishop; grandsons, Jeremy Jon Bishop and Jake Nicholas Bishop; her parents; sister, Peggy and brother-in-law, Larry.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Attica United Methodist Church, in Attica, MI.
