Dorothy Marie Wessel, age 79, passed away October 27, 2022. She was born December 21, 1942 in Almont, the daughter of Everett and Gladys (Benedict) Redd. She graduated from Almont High School in 1960 and went on to attend Eastern Michigan College of Commerce in Port Huron, earning an executive secretarial diploma.

Dorothy retired from Ford Motor Company in 2003 at the age of 61. She was a hard worker and devoted to her children. She started as a switchboard operator, worked on the line, and moved her way up to an executive secretary.

Dorothy had strong convictions and stood up for what she believed in, she was not bashful to let you know how she felt. Her joyful spirit brought fun to every interaction. She loved to dance, laugh and had a radiant smile! She also enjoyed teaching her girls how to cook, sew, bake and take care of a home. What brought her the greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved daughters, Doreen (Anthony) Kellum of Detroit, MI, Aileen Baker of Daytona Beach, Fl; loving grandchildren, Bryann (Ade) Balogun, Anthony (Tiffany) Kellum, Nicole Kellum, Nathan Kellum, Kelsea (Ronnie) Best, Kayla Baker; beloved great-grandchildren, AJ Balogun, Ashton, Tyler and Ronnie Best. Also surviving are her siblings, Chuck (Carole) Redd of Almont, Richard Redd of Romeo, Howard (Marcia) Redd of Almont, Susan (Paul) Wright of Oakland Township, Ruth Ann (Paul) Ducat of Attica, Barbara (Ron) Lawrence of Richmond.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Mary Ruth Redd.

A Celebration of Life service was held on December 21, 2022 at the Romeo United Methodist Church.
