Marilyn Jean (Sather) Sliter, age 93, of Dryden MI, formerly of Bloomfield Hills MI, passed peacefully January 18 at Serene Gardens of Imlay City. Marilyn was born January 12, 1930, the daughter of John Sather and Jennie (Koski) Sather, of Kingsford MI.
Marilyn graduated from Kingsford High School in 1948 and attended Badger Business School in Wisconsin where she met her husband, Bob, from Watertown, NY.
She married Robert (Bob) Sliter August 4, 1951 and made a home in Grand Rapids MI. She later relocated to Bloomfield Hills, and finally with her daughter, Jeanie, and son-in-law, Sheldon, in Dryden MI.
In her early years she worked for Ford Motor Company, Kingsford, MI (in the U.P.). She loved to ski there as well. She and her husband began their family in Grand Rapids MI. Marilyn was home with her children during their school years, moving to Bloomfield Hills and later retired as a legal secretary from a law firm in Troy. She loved nature, all sports, especially football, playing the piano, reading, geography, history (she was a great historian) and listening to music. Her favorite day of the week was “Grand-Kids Day,” as she loved having her great-granddaughters over to play.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Jeanie (and favorite son-in-law, Sheldon) Miller of Dryden. Her grandchildren, Joe Miller of Atlanta, GA, Dan (Heather) Miller of Almont, MI, Emilee Miller of Dallas, TX, Dylan Sliter (fiancée Kimberley) of Newaygo, MI; and great-granddaughters, Josephine “Josie” and Evelyn “Evie” Miller of Almont, MI. All of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Mary Seppala, Jamie (Becky) Sliter, Kim (Dave) Harris, Bill (Joanne) Sliter; and her beloved cousins, Judy (Paul), Joanne, Mary and Janice (Jim).
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Bob” in 1985; son, Jon in 2008; sister, Carol (Sather) Seppala in 2006; niece, Paulette Wells in 2014; niece, Karen Fosco in 2019; and many dear family and friends before her.
