Dear Editor,

“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.”

— Coretta Scott King

Everyday we are fortunate to work with individuals and families that are looking to make a lasting positive impact on their local community. They are often the most humble and unassuming of individuals that are driven by compassionate hearts and generosity of spirit towards others. They are your friends, neighbors, fellow church members, local farmers and business owners, and often the quiet ones in the community.

I encourage you to read about one such couple, Art and Judy Sutter, below. As a result of a planned gift through their estate planning, we are honored to welcome two new endowment funds to the LCCF family of funds.

In establishing these funds, the First United Methodist Church of North Branch, and Lapeer County will be able to witness the fruits of their hard work, and these gifts, for generations. Art and Judy will forever leave lasting benefits to the causes most close to their hearts and impact lives in Lapeer County.

Should you choose to have a philanthropic impact as part of your legacy, I invite you to join us as a member of the Lapeer County Community Foundation Legacy Society-an elite group of forward-thinking members dedicated to supporting future generations in Lapeer County through their estate planning. Please contact me if you would like to notify us of your intent to join the Legacy Society with your existing or future estate plan.

You have many options when planning for future giving. From gifts of cash, stock, land, insurance policies, or other appreciated assets, the community foundation offers flexibility when creating your estate plan. Our team is here to help you determine the right choices to assist you in meeting your goals.

Planned gifts can create a family legacy of giving to be passed down through generations. I welcome the opportunity to answer your questions and help you reach your charitable goals.

Best regards,
— Nancy Boxey
