Board also approves agenda items for 2022-2023 fiscal year
LAPEER COUNTY — The Lapeer County Board of Commissioners unanimously elected Tom Kohlman to the position of Board Chairperson for the year 2023.
District 3 Board member Kevin Knisely nominated Kohlman, which was seconded by District 7 Board member Bryan Zender.
In a 7-0 roll call vote, Kohlman received support from Knisely, Zender and Board members Gary Howell, Truman Mast, William Hamilton and Brad Haggadone.
Commissioner Truman Mast was elected to the position of Vice-Chairman of the Board for the year 2023.
During a Jan. 5 Committee of the Whole meeting, LCB Board members approved the following motions.
•Commissioners approved an Interlocal Agreement between Lapeer and Oakland counties for Medical Examiner services. The motion takes effect immediately following the 60-day termination notice is submitted to the Michigan Institute of Forensic Science & Medicine.
•A motion was passed to authorize payment to the Lapeer Development Corporation for economic services during the 2022-2023 fiscal year at a cost not to exceed $10,000.
•The Board agreed to authorize payment of a matching grant to Valley Area Agency on Aging in the amount of $6,000 for fiscal year 2023.
•Board members authorized the renewal of liability insurance through the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority for the period of Jan. 1, 2023 through Dec. 31, 2023.
