Victim was passenger in car that lost control on icy winter road

 

ST. CLAIR COUNTY — The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 47-year-old Harrison Twp. man died in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Brockway Township early Friday morning.

The victim was a passenger in a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500, when the 43-year-old driver lost control on the icy roadway and rolled the vehicle onto its side and into a ditch.

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. However, his 47-year-old passenger from Kimball Twp. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Per a St. Clair County Sheriff’s report, the crash occurred shortly after 5 a.m. in the 11000 block of Norman Road.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Clair County Accident Investigation Team.

Police suspect that alcohol or drugs may have been factors in the in the deadly crash.

The names of the driver and passenger were not immediately released, pending further investigation and notification of family.

Assisting St. Clair Sheriff’s deputies at the scene were Tri-Hospital EMS and the Brockway Fire Department.
