CAPAC — Capac saw to it they would prevail, registering a 35-33 triumph over Peck in a non-league varsity girls’ basketball battle last Thursday afternoon at the SC4 Holiday Basketball Showcase in Port Huron.
The outcome avenged a 37-25 loss to Peck in the consolation game of the Harry Moore Tournament it hosted on Saturday, December 10.
With the result, Capac improves to 2-4 this season.
In Thursday’s battle, Capac spotted Peck an 8-6 edge after one quarter was over with.
The second quarter, though, would belong to Capac. It was there they netted 15 points and Peck managed four, leaving them up 21-12 at the halftime break.
When the action resumed, Peck bounced back with a 12-2 third quarter edge. That enabled the Pirates to go ahead 24-23 with 24 minutes gone.
Capac then outscored Peck 12-9 the rest of the way, pulling out a 35-33 victory.
Nevaeh Mason (14, including four trifectas) and Julia Schaefer (14, featuring a pair of treys) supplied Capac’s highest point totals.
