ALMONT — Cam Bourdeau hit a layup with 9.9 seconds remaining and his team held the opposition scoreless the rest of the way, leaving the Almont varsity boys’ basketball team with a 38-37 victory to celebrate over non-league adversary Madison Heights Bishop Foley last Thursday afternoon at the SC4 Holiday Basketball Showcase in Port Huron.
With the decision, Almont improves to 2-3 this season.
In Thursday’s clash, Madison Heights Bishop Foley opened up a 15-10 advantage after one quarter was complete.
The middle two quarters saw Almont generate 21 total points and Madison Heights Bishop Foley net 16. That made it 31-31 with 24 minutes gone.
Almont then outscored Madison Heights Bishop Foley 7-6 the rest of the way, good for a 38-37 win at game’s end.
Clay Roszczewski paced Almont with 18 points, including three trifectas. He was given assistance in the scoring department by Marko Radisavljevic (nine points), Bourdeau (five), Cole Walton (four) and Sully Szlaga (two).
