CITY OF IMLAY CITY, MICHIGAN
PUBLIC NOTICE ADOPTION OF A ZONING ORDINANCE
TO THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE CITY OF IMLAY CITY AND ALL OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS, PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that an updated and revised Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map, regulating the development and use of land, was adopted by the legislative body of the City Imlay City on December 20, 2022, and will become effective on January 4, 2023.
The amendment modifies the Zoning Ordinance as follows:
• A reorganization of regulations into 6 articles: 1. Introduction, 2. Districts, 3. General Provisions, 4. Site Development Standards, 5. Approval Processes, and 6. Administrative Procedures;
• Creation of a Public Lands zoning district and zoning of property to identify and provide a zoning classification for park land that is owned or may be owned by the City that is intended for public use, public parks, and recreation
• Revisions to permitted, special, and conditional land uses in zoning districts; inclusion of use tables for each district;
• Updated design standards for commercial districts;
• Expansion of the Downtown Business and Industrial District uses to permit medical marihuana facilities meeting specific standards and regulations;
• Updated standards for parking, access management, site lighting, content neutral signage, and ordinance definitions
• Provisions to permit the continuation of nonconforming buildings, land, and uses under specific conditions;
• Revised site plan and development review processes for Planning Commission and the Zoning Administrator; and
• Added graphics and illustrations.
The complete text of the Zoning Ordinance and Official Zoning Map are available for public inspection at City Hall, 150 North Main, Imlay City, MI 48444 during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, and on the City’s website at www.imlaycity.org. Copies of the Zoning Ordinance are available at City Hall and on the City’s website.
