Grace Michaels, Ariela Perales the recipients of highest honor

ALMONT/DRYDEN — The Almont Lions Club has announced its local winners in the 2022 Lions Clubs International “peace poster” contest.

The contest is open to students ages 11-13, whose posters were judged on the basis of (1) Originality, (2) Artistic Merit, and (3) Expression of this year’s theme, which was “Lead with Compassion.”

Almont Lion Wes Wagester said the Almont club received poster submissions from 29 Almont Middle School students and 12 students from Dryden Junior High School.

Wagester announced this year’s winners as Grace Michaels of Almont and Ariela Perales of Dryden.

“Creating peace posters gives children the chance to express their visions of peace and to inspire the world through their art and creativity,” Wagester said.

Lions Clubs International has sponsored the peace poster contest for more than three decades.

Wagester said an estimated 600,000 young people from 75 countries worldwide participate in the contest annually.
