John “Kenny” Sadler, age 84, of Elba, (formerly of Lum), MI died Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Concerned Country Care of Montrose, MI with his loving family at his side. John Kenneth Sadler was born May 24, 1938 in Detroit, MI. He was the son of the late Joseph and the late Dorothy (Aull) Sadler. Kenny grew up in Detroit. He attended St. Theresa High School in Detroit, MI. Kenny enlisted in the United States Army November 11, 1955 in Fort Benning, GA. He married Sandra Kapanka on June 27, 1959 in Royal Oak, MI. Kenny and Sandra were married 57 years. He and Sandra lived in Hazel Park, MI from 1970 – 1994 before moving to Lum, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra on April 27, 2012.

He was employed as a Diesel Mechanic by Chatham Distribution before retiring. After retiring, Kenny opened his own brake shop in Waterford, MI. Early in his career, Kenny was employed by Mack Truck and Leaseway. Kenny also owned and operated Paws-A-While Kennel from his home in Lum. He enjoyed sitting on the couch with the dogs reading them the newspaper.

Kenny is survived by his daughter, Kimberli (Robert) Graham of Grand Blanc, MI; son, William (Belinda) Sadler of Imlay City, MI; and his brother, Marvin Sadler of Royal Oak, MI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua (Kristine) Sadler, Michael Sadler, Nathan (Noel) Sadler, Matthew (Mary) Sadler, Tyler (Michaela) Graham, AlexSandra (Luke Bonner) Graham, and Hannah Rose (Austin) Logan; great-grandchildren, Michael Jr., Cheyenne, Ethan, Jordan, Avery, Brooklyn, Connor, Jacob and one on the way; and his special friend, companion, and confidant, Chris “Chumlee” Radcliff.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Sadler; and his great-grandchild, Hailey.

The family would like to express a heartfelt “Thank You” to Mid-Michigan Hospice, especially his hospice nurse, Alexandria Huntley. Alexandria and Kenny’s relationship started as patient-nurse, but their bond grew and she became part of the family.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI. Reverend Fr. Noel Cornelio, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Arcadia Township Cemetery.

The family will be available for visitation 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2022, 1-5 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 10 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI and 10-11 a.m., Friday, November 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI.

Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
