Edward Sefcovic, age 81, of Imlay City, Michigan died Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital of Lapeer, MI.  Edward Joseph Sefcovic was born February 8, 1941 in Lapeer, MI. He is the son of the late John and the late Stella (Bocek) Sefcovic.  Edward grew up and lived his entire life in the Imlay City area. He is a graduate of the first graduating class at the new Imlay City High School, Class of 1960. Edward continued his education at Oakland Community College and attended trade school. He married Laura Masters on December 9, 1972 in Clarkston, Michigan.  Edward proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He was employed as a Skilled Trades Mechanic, repairing and rebuilding pumps, by General Motors – Pontiac Motors before retiring from Plant 9 after 30 years.  Edward was a former member of the Imlay City Knights of Columbus and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer, MI.  He did crop farming with his brother until 1987. Edward then went into vegetable truck farming with his kids.   Edward was active in his grandchildren’s lives, babysitting or going to their activities, cheering them on. He was so proud of being a grandpa.

Edward is survived by: his wife, Laura Sefcovic; daughter, Zelma Isele of Westland, MI; his son, Jeffrey (Vicki) Sefcovic of Imlay City, MI; sister, Florence (William) Sickner of Otter Lake, MI; and his brothers, Richard (Diane) Sefcovic of Walled Lake, MI and John (Estela) Sefcovic of Attica, MI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Derek Isele, Kayla Isele, Dominick Isele, Allysa (Tim) Sefcovic, Aiden (Caris) Sefcovic, Jasmin Sefcovic, and Jason Sefcovic.  He was preceded in death by: his parents, John & Stella Sefcovic; brother, Jerome Sefcovic; and his sisters, Esther Sefcovic, Lily Sefcovic, and Joanne (Randall) Kelley.

The funeral mass will be held 11:00 am, Monday, September 26, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI. Reverend Fr. Noel Cornelio, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will officiate.  Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Imlay City.  The family will be available for visitation 2-5 & 6-8 pm, Sunday, September 25th at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI and 10-11 am, Monday, September 26th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 7 pm, Sunday, September 25th.  Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
