In a claimed effort to unify the various factions existing in our nation President Biden in a despicable campaign speech last week asserted that those he described as MAGA Republicans were semi-fascists and threats to democracy.

I want to “Make America Great Again.” I guess you could call me a MAGA Republican but that only defines me as a supporter of certain policies, not of any one person.

I support secure national borders. I support police departments, incarceration of criminals, and prosecutors who enforce the law. Does that make me a threat to democracy?

I support declaring the Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations that are killing our youth with smuggled opioids that need to be pursued in the same manner as all middle eastern terrorist groups. Does that make me a threat to democracy?

I support verification that one is a citizen before they cast a vote. I support policies that will assure free and fair elections. Does that make me a threat to democracy?

I support actions to assure our military is the strongest and best in the world. Does that make me a threat to democracy?

I support parents having a major role in the education of their children. I support schools that educate, not indoctrinate, our children. Does that make me a threat to democracy?

I support economic policies that will keep inflation at 1% per year or less. I support energy independence by fully developing all forms of energy production. I support low taxes, less government spending, smaller government and less intrusive government actions. Does that make me a threat to democracy?

I support isolation of, and embargos against, Iran as well as pulling out of the nuclear negotiations. I support recognizing China for the threat that it is. Does that make me a threat to democracy?

I support our Supreme Court interpreting and applying the law, not writing the law. Does that make me a threat to democracy?

I support those who take student loans must pay those loans in full. Does that make me a threat to democracy?

Our country today is one I don’t recognize, and I want to Make America Great Again. I don’t think I am a threat to democracy but rather one who defends it.
