Did you know that September is Childhood Obesity Awareness Month? The Thumb Community Health Partnership (TCHP) is raising awareness about healthy lifestyle habits for children. There are a variety of ways to focus on health and fitness: Eat nutritious foods. Get adequate sleep. Stay active. Limit screen time. Healthy habits can help children achieve a healthy weight!

TCHP encourages families to promote health and wellness for their children. Follow along as we share resources for parents and guardians. Together, we can help children make healthy food choices and stay active.

If you are a parent, make sure to model healthy habits. Leading by example is an easy way to develop healthy eating habits for the whole family. Serve fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Encourage your children to drink plenty of water. Eat fewer sugary foods.

Children benefit from living a healthy lifestyle.

Benefits include:

•Stronger bones and muscles.

•A healthy weight.

•Increased self-esteem.

•Reduced stress and anxiety.

•Feeling healthier and happier.
