IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity football team opened its 2022 season with a 26-0 road loss to non-league adversary Hazel Park.

For the night, Matt Evans connected on three of 10 pass plays for 40 yards as Imlay City’s quarterback. He threw two interceptions en route to those numbers.

Tanner Land (38 yards on eight rushes) paced Imlay City’s ground attack. He was backed by Andrew Cezik (four totes for 32 yards), Evans (31 yards on six rushes) and Travis Dupont (six totes for 30 yards).

Brady VanderPloeg (nine tackles, including two for losses) and Latham Perry (six stops, featuring two for losses) posted Imlay City’s top tackle outputs.

Imlay City will look to bounce back this Thursday when it hosts Blue Water Area Conference rival North Branch. That matchup begins at 7 p.m.
