Foundation distributes supplies, backpacks to needy students
LAPEER COUNTY — With another school year underway for many local students, the Lapeer County Community Foundation (LCCF) is focused on providing local students some of items they need to start the year.

YAC members have been busy sorting supplies designated for delivery to schools throughout Lapeer County.
To ensure that happens, LCCF’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) recently hosted its yearly backpack and school supply program.
LCCF Program Officer/YAC Advisor Jennifer Phillips said YAC members assembled at the Lapeer Ed-Tech Center in Attica last Tuesday (Aug. 16) to kick off the program.
Phillips said the youth group used the opportunity to sort and package school supplies and backpacks they purchased through grant funds from the LCCF.
“The Lapeer County Community Foundation YAC strikes again,” Phillips said “With the new school year fast approaching, the YAC group purchased 500 sets of school supplies and backpacks to be equally distributed throughout Lapeer County School districts.”
Phillips added that each Lapeer County school received a direct delivery last week from either a YAC member or LCCF staff member.
“The schools will now be able to give these school supplies and backpacks out to students in need at their discretion,” she said.
