CAPAC — The Capac varsity volleyball team opened their 2022 campaign with a Silver Division title last Saturday at the Bad Axe Tournament.

Capac started things off with a 22-25, 25-23 pool play split against Millington. That was followed by a 24-26, 20-25 loss to Caro and a 13-25, 12-25 setback to Ubly.

Those outcomes netted Capac a Silver Division appearance.

It was there Capac posted a 25-16, 25-15 win against Sandusky.

Capac then met Owen-Gage for Silver Division honors next. That battle drew to a close with Capac up by a 25-15, 25-23 count.

Julia Schaefer led Capac with 47 digs. She was backed by Kenadee Malloy (34 digs), Neveah Mason (26), Skielar Tesnow (19), Cathy Williamson (11), Sam Killingbeck (10), Bella Wetter (eight), Madalyn Roberson (six), Anna Klein and Liviya Tank (four each), Gracie Klink (two), Rachael Mirling (one).

Killingbeck notched both of Capac’s blocks.

Tesnow (eight), Roberson (six), Schaefer and Tank (five apiece), Williamson (two) along with Killingbeck and Mirling (one each) registered Capac’s ace serves.

Capac also received 49 set assists courtesy of Schaefer.
