Jeannine Meinke, age 92, of Imlay City, MI died Monday, August 15, 2022 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility of Lapeer, MI. Jeannine Dolores McGlynn was born October 24, 1929 in Boston, MA. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and the late Sarah (Szumiglia) McGlynn. Jeannine grew up in Detroit, MI. She was a graduate of Eastern High School in Detroit. Jeannine was clinic educated under the care of many extraordinary doctors over 35 years, assisting in surgeries and patient care. She married Clayton Meinke, her high school sweetheart, on February 24, 1948 in Detroit, MI. Jeannine and Clayton lived all over Michigan, including Petoskey, Glen Arbor, and most recently, Port Austin. She moved to the Dryden, MI area in 2017.
She was employed as a nurse in several general practitioner and urologist doctors’ offices in Traverse City and Port Huron, MI.
Jeannine was an artist and loved to paint. Her favorite subjects were lighthouses, seascapes along with florals, with friends in Port Austin and Caseville. She was part of the organizing of Winsome Women Christian Outreach events that were well attended at the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, with the ladies in Petoskey, MI.
She is survived by her daughters, Caryn (Doug) Bruyneel of Dryden, MI and Christine (John) Voss of Dryden, MI; grandchildren, Sarah Voss (AJ), Hannah (John) Holden, Mac (Peg) Voss, Jake (Amanda) Voss and Joe (Sully) Voss; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Zac Grigg, Mya Grigg, Corbin Voss, Oscar Holden, Sammy Holden, Paisley Voss and Nolan Voss.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Meinke; and her parents, Frederick and Sarah McGlynn.
A memorial is not planned at this time.
Arrangements for Jeannine’s cremation were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
