Do you think it is too late to take control of your health? Think again! This month the Thumb Community Health Partnership (TCHP) is recognizing Healthy Aging Month. We’re providing inspiration and practical ideas. It’s never too late for adults to improve their physical, mental, social, and financial well-being!
Today there are over 72 million Baby Boomers already over the age of 65. Another 65.4 million people were born between 1965 and 1980. The number of people over the age of 45 is growing every year according to Healthy Aging News. If you are over age 45, now is the best time to take control of your health.
Want to stay active and healthy as you age? There are positive measures that can help jump start your well-being! TCHP challenges you to practice one of the following tips!
1. Check your diet. At any age, it is important to get vitamins and nutrients from healthy foods. Eat more fruits and vegetables!
2. Stay active. Get away from your screens! Make it a goal to get outside every day and run, walk, or cycle.
3. Stay connected. Build a good support system of friends and family members! Staying connected keeps you positive and productive.
4. Drink right. Reduce or get rid of the sugary drinks. Soda, juices, and alcoholic beverages can add empty calories to your diet. Don’t let them cancel out your daily exercise!
Whether you are 18, 30, or 65, TCHP encourages you to make aging a healthy and positive journey! Want more information about Healthy Aging Month? Speak with your health professional. Join the conversation at www.Facebook/ThumbHealth or contact Kay Balcer, TCHP Director at 989-553-2927.
