Newell Waters, age 84, of Attica, MI died Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at United Hospice Residence of Marlette, MI. Newell Waters was born December 30, 1937 in Nantahala, NC. He was the son of the late Lawton and the late Helen (Owen) Waters. Newell grew up and attended school in Nantahala, NC. He earned his GED. He married Patricia Dockery on August 17, 1959 in Hiawassee, GA. Newell proudly served in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was employed as a Supervisor by Ford Motor Company – Sterling Heights Transmission Plant for 37 years before retiring.
Newell was a member of the Almont First Baptist Church. He liked to garden and tinker with various things (taking things apart and putting them back together). He enjoyed fishing (catch and release) in his pond with his grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Waters; daughters, Kindara (Gilbert) Rietsch of Clarkston, MI and Kami (Rick) Heiser of New Haven, MI; his son, Randy Waters of Pontiac, MI; and his brother, Thomas (Laura) Waters of Allenton, MI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicholas Waters, Patrick John Waters, Kellie Rietsch, and Gilbert Rietsch, III; and great-grandchildren, Abigail Waters, Eliza Jane Waters and Rowan Waters.
Newell was preceded in death by his parents, Lawton and Helen Waters; and his brother, L.J. Waters.
The funeral was held Monday, August 1, 2022 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Wayne Boyd, pastor of Almont First Baptist Church, officiated.
Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
