The LICA (Lapeer Interfaith Community Association) soup kitchens in Lapeer hosted the grand opening of their new food pantry. The ceremony took place on June 14 at 3 p.m. at 1680 N. Lapeer Rd. in Lapeer. This building was made possible by grants provided by Lapeer County Community Foundation and United Way. Other monies were donated to help fund the building construction and stocking the pantry.

For over 26 years, the Lapeer Interfaith Community Association has been in operation and consists of local churches and a multitude of volunteers from Trinity United Methodist Church, Grace Episcopal, Lapeer Church of Christ, First Presbyterian and St. Paul Lutheran.

We serve approximately 300 families a week with an average of 30,000 pounds of food per month, offering free dinners either drive in or dine in—Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We also offer food boxes in times of need for our community and Pop Up Pantry Food giveaways in our parking lot.
