TRI-CITY AREA — From their first match until the last these competitors excelled no matter what course they challenged on a given day.
Here is a look at who made the 2022 edition of The Tri-City Times All-Area golf team and the numbers they put up en route to those accolades:
Cam Bourdeau, Almont.
Bourdeau supplied a 42 average for nine holes this spring, good for first on the Almont squad and among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The sophomore posted a medalist round of 77 at the Blue Water Area Conference Tournament hosted by Holly Meadows in Capac; contributed an 87 during the Perry-based Dick’s Sporting Goods Invitational at Glenbrier Golf Course; provided a 90 at a Division 3 regional hosted by West Shore Country Club in Grosse Ile; managed a 95 at the Timberwood Golf Course-based Evans Gill Invitational; and chipped in a 96 at the PCCS Tournament at hosted by Golden Fox Golf Course in Plymouth.
Bourdeau concluded his second year on Almont’s squad as an All-Blue Water Conference first team selection.
He also earned Blue Water Area Conference MVP accolades.
Manny Goldstein, Almont.
Goldstein averaged 43 per nine-hole round, leaving him second on the Almont squad and among those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
The sophomore shot an 83 at the Timberwood Golf Course-based Evans Gill Tournament; carded an 84 at the PCCS Tournament hosted by Golden Fox Golf Course in Plymouth; furnished an 85 while competing at a Division 3 regional hosted by West Shore Country Club in Grosse Ile; shot an 86 for third medalist honors at the Blue Water Area Conference Tournament hosted by Holly Meadows Golf Course in Capac; plus added a 97 at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Invite at Glenbrier Golf Course in Perry.
Goldstein ended his second season on Almont’s squad as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team choice.
Garrett Earegood, Almont.
Earegood furnished a 45 average for nine holes this spring, good for a tie for third on Almont’s squad and among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The senior took second medalist honors with an 83 at the Blue Water Area Conference Tournament hosted by Holly Meadows Golf Course in Capac; supplied an 87 at a Division 3 regional hosted by West Shore Golf Course in Grosse Ile; furnished a 91 at the PCCS Tournament hosted by Golden Fox Golf Course in Plymouth; generated a 92 at the Timberwood Golf Course-based Evans Gill Tournament; plus chipped in a 99 during the Dick’s Sporting Goods Invitational at Glenbrier Golf Course in Perry.
Earegood wrapped up his third year on Almont’s squad as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team pick.
Seth VanHoutte, Almont.
VanHoutte averaged 45 per nine-hole round, leaving him tied for third on the Almont squad and among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The senior also contributed a 99 at the Timberwood Golf Course-based Evans Gill Invitational.
He finished his third season on Almont’s squad as an All-Blue Water Area Conference -first team selection.
Jerry Schurig, Almont.
Schurig posted a 47 average per nine holes this spring, good for fifth among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees and sixth on Almont’s squad.
The sohomore shot a 94 at the PCCS Tournament hosted by Golden Fox Golf Course in Plymouth and chipped in a 95 at the Blue Water Area Conference Tournament hosted by Holly Meadows Golf Course in Capac.
This was his second season on Almont’s squad.
Second team- Jacob Burgess, Dryden; Josh Fuller, Almont; John Schoen, Capac; and Hunter Tyson, Capac.
Coach of the Year- For directing Almont to a top finish at the BWAC Tournament and during the regular season, Mark Bone earns Tri-City Times All-Area Coach of the Year accolades.
