GOODLAND TWP. — On Saturday morning, the Goodland Township Planning Commission will reconvene at the Knights of Columbus Hall on the matter of a proposed commercial solar development.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. and comes approximately one month after the commission held a public hearing on the matter at the same location. At that time a large crowd weighed in on Orion Renewable Energy Group’s proposal with some in favor and some opposed. The California based company is seeking a special land use permit and site plan approval to construct 15 foot tall solar panels on 826 acres in Goodland Township. The development would encompass approximately 1,700 acres in total in the eastern portion of the township, between Bowers and Shaw roads.
Following the May 14 meeting, Planning Commission Chair Mike Bissett said commission members needed time to process the information and comments presented before they could take a vote.
The Knights of Columbus Hall is located at 1405 N. Van Dyke Rd. in Imlay City.
