ALMONT — The Almont boys’ track team registered two top-ten finishes last Saturday at the Division 3 state finals.
Kent City High School is where the meet was contested.
Lansing Catholic (38 points) paced the field assembled. Saugatuck (37 points), Benzie Central (32), Pewamo Westphalia (30), Hart (29), Mason County Central and Sanford Meridian (28 each), Traverse City St. Francis (24), Chesaning (23) and Beaverton (19) garnered top-ten showings as well.
Chase Battani, pole vault, 12 feet 9 inches; led Almont with a two-way tie for a ninth.
Drew VanDyke, discus, 137 feet 1 inch; provided Almont with a 10th.
Battani, 300-meter hurdles, 45.33 seconds; contributed a 17th to Almont’s cause.
The 400 relay of Tim Miller, Nolan Maxlow, Thomas Dyer and Mason Smith also competed for Almont that day. They were timed in 45.47 seconds on the way to a 24th.
