ALMONT — The Almont varsity softball team (no. 5, Division 3) split with host Richmond (no. 2, Division 3) in a Blue Water Area Conference doubleheader on Monday, May 23.
In the opener, Almont posted a 4-1 win against Richmond.
Devin Johnston (three singles), Grace Koenig (two singles and a double) plus Lydia LaCavera and Grace Johnson (two singles each) led Almont’s offensive attack. They were backed by Kylie Tennant (a double) and Abby Geml (a single).
Myah McLean was the winning Almont pitcher. She allowed eight hits, struck out two and walked one.
In the second contest, Richmond bounced back with a 5-4 victory over Almont.
Johnston (a single, a double and a homer) proved Almont’s toughest out. The Raiders also had LaCavera (a pair of singles) plus Kendall Roszczewski, Brooklyn Bunch, Isabella Theisen, Johnson and Geml (a single apiece) reach the hitting column.
