TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont and Imlay City girls’ tennis teams tied for fourth and eighth, respectively, last Thursday at a Division 3 regional.

St. Clair and Marysville is where the action unfolded.

Notre Dame Prep (29 points) and Armada (16) occupied the top-two spots at day’s end. They move on the state finals June 2-4 in Midland.

Cros-Lex (15 points) placed third at regionals. They were followed by Almont and Yale (13 points each), Marysville (12), St. Clair (seven), Imlay City, Goodrich and Marine City (two apiece) along with Ortonville Brandon (one).

Andrea Frederick (first singles), Kaylee Brown (second singles), Jenna Hausmann (third singles), Makenna Karbel (fourth singles) plus Samantha Keller and Lauren Culver (fourth doubles) led Almont with semifinal appearances.

Shelby Grewe and Bella Moussiaux (first doubles), Autumn Bletch and Hyley Goldstein (second doubles) along with Avis Schapman and Natalie Frederick (third doubles) made it to the quarterfinals for Almont.

Hannah Sapp (first singles) and Emma Kent (second singles) paced Imlay City with quarterfinal appearances.
