Do you have health insurance? Do you have questions about your current health insurance? The Thumb Community Health Partnership (TCHP) would like to help you through the assistance of TCHP Health Insurance Navigators.

TCHP Navigators are trained to help you understand your options for health insurance. They can explain the difference between Medicaid, Medicare, and plans available on HealthCare.gov. HealthCare.gov plans include commercial providers such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield or Priority Health. TCHP Navigators can help you understand insurance benefits and clear up confusing healthcare terms like “deductibles” or “out of pocket expenses.” They can also help you find resources and services in the community. Having health insurance helps make sure you can get the health care you need to stay healthy.

Among the team of navigators is Kari Granz, of the Thumb Community Health Partnership. She can be contacted at tchpinfo@gmail.com or 989-895-2918.

The Thumb Community Health Partnership has twenty partner organizations including hospitals, health departments, community mental health agencies and a variety of area health and human service organizations. The Partnership’s goal is to work cooperatively together to meet the physical and mental health needs of residents of Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties. To meet those health needs, access to affordable health insurance and care is key for our rural communities!

Open enrollment for government health insurance programs is November 1, 2022 through December 15, 2022. If you recently had a significant life change you may be eligible for a special enrollment period. Medicaid is open for enrollment year round. Medicare open enrollment is October 15, 2022-December 15, 2022. For more information on whether you qualify for coverage or information about the partnership, visit www.thumbhealth.org or call Kari Granz, the TCHP navigator, at 810-895-2918.

Funding for this project is provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services through a subcontract with ACCESS of Dearborn.
