Donald “Don” Moore, age 80, of Imlay City, MI died Friday, April 15, 2022 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility (Suncrest) of Lapeer, MI. Donald Wayne Moore was born November 22, 1941 in Wyse Township, MI. He was the son of the late Bernise and the late Ruth (Meyers) Moore. Don grew up in Clare, MI. He was a graduate of Clare High School. After high school, he attended Michigan State University for 2 years and studied Industrial Education. Don continued his education at Central Michigan University and earned his Bachelor of Science in Education. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1965-1968 during the Vietnam War. Don was a training officer at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. Don married Eileen Wegner on July 25, 1992 in North Branch, MI.

He was employed as a manager for several grain elevators in the Thumb region of Michigan: Ellwell, Bradleyville, Bayport, Caseville, and North Branch. Early in Don’s career, he was employed as a math, science and biology teacher for Dryden Schools but had to stop teaching due to hearing loss. He then worked as the head of maintenance for Mantex Corporation for 10 years and at Farm Home Administration for a period of time.

Don was a member of the Capac United Methodist Church, Imlay City VFW, and North Branch American Legion. He was on the North Branch and Lapeer Ambulance service. Don was an EMT instructor.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Moore of Imlay City, MI; and his sister, Rhea Eldred of Muskegon, MI.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bernise and Ruth Moore; and his sister, Carole Randle.

A memorial is not planned at this time. Interment of cremated remains will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.

Arrangements for Don’s cremation were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
