TRI-CITY AREA —Davenport University’s Erin Boettcher and Rochester University’s Kirsten Schapman competed for their respective women’s track teams at the Spartan Invitational this past week.
The meet was contested Friday and Saturday in East Lansing.
Boettcher, a freshman, joined forces with Davenport ‘B’ team members Ellie Reynolds, Sam Fritz and Tessa Blankenship to place fifth in the 400-meter relay. It took them 51.3 seconds to accomplish the feat.
In addition to that, Boettcher ranked 14th among 200 dash entrants with a time of 28.0 seconds.
Schapman, a senior, combined with Rochester University 400 relay teammates Delanie Nicklas, Meriah Smith and Myesha Reese to obtain a sixth. They needed 51.71 seconds to get the job done.
Her next best showing came in the 100-meter hurdles where she posted a time of 24.95 seconds en route to a 12th.
Schapman also placed 14th among 400 hurdle participants, registering a clocking of 1:18.16 along the way.
