TRI-CITY AREA — From the opening game until the last, these athletes stood out with their play out on the court.
Here is a look at who secured a spot on the Tri-City Times All-Area squad and the numbers they put up en route:
Mary Lengemann, Imlay City.
Lengemann netted 439 points in 23 games, leaving her with a Tri-City Area best average of 19 points per contest, this season.

Mary Lengemann, of Imlay City, topped the Tri-City scoring list this winter.
This was the fourth year on Imlay City’s varsity for the 5-11 senior guard.
She finished with 1,360 total points over that stretch, leaving her second on Imlay City’s career scoring list.
Lengemann, who will continue her playing days at Division 2 Embry Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Florida, ended the 2021-22 campaign as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team selection.
She was also voted the recipient of her league’s MVP Award.
Jessica Peters, Dryden.
Peters wound up with 237 points in 21 contests, an average 11.3 per game, this winter.
That placed her first on the Dryden squad and ranked second among those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
This was her first year on Dryden’s varsity.
The 5-1 junior guard concluded the season as an All-North Central Thumb League second team choice.
Grace Johnson, Almont.
Johnson averaged 9.3 points per contest this winter.
That placed her first on the Almont scoring list and third among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The 5-4 senior guard also averaged 2.9 steals, 1.9 assists and 1.3 rebounds game.
This was her fourth season on Almont’s varsity.
Johnson wrapped up the year as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team selection.
Ana Lengemann, Imlay City.
Lengemann managed 199 points over 23 contests, an average of 8.6 per game, this season.
That placed her second on the Imlay City squad and fourth out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
This was the fourth year on Imlay City’s varsity for the 5-7 senior guard.
Lengemann concluded the season as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team pick.
Lexa Forti, Imlay City.
Forti supplied 180 points in 23 games, an an average of 7.8 points per contest, this season.
That placed her third on the Imlay City squad and fifth out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
This was the second year on Imlay City’s varsity for the 5-7 sophomore guard.
Forti ended the season as an All-Blue Water Area Conference honorable mention choice.
Grace Koenig, Almont.
Koenig averaged 7.5 points per contest this winter.
That placed her second on the Almont scoring list and sixth among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The 5-8 junior also averaged 4.8 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists.
This was her second season on Almont’s varsity.
Koenig finished the year as an All-Blue Water Area Conference All-Defensive team pick.
Jaya Forti, Imlay City.
Forti amassed 163 points over 23 contests, an average of 7.1 per game, this season.
That placed her fourth on the Imlay City squad and seventh out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
This was her third year on Imlay City’s varsity.
The 5-5 senior guard concluded the season as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team selection.
In addition to that, Forti earned a spot on the All-Blue Water Area Conference Defensive Team.
Second team- Lily Lengemann, Imlay City; Dakota Deel, Imlay City; Juliana Closurdo, Capac; Lauren Abromaitis, Dryden; Julia Schaefer, Capac; Kendall Roszczewski, Almont; and Lydia LaCavera, Almont.
Honorable mention- Lizzy Brandt, Almont; and Erica Yeashevich, Capac.
Coach of the Year- For directing Imlay City to a pacesetting 14-0 Blue Water Area Conference mark, a 19-3 overall record and a Division 2 district title, Spartan Coach Heather Lauwers earns Tri-City Times All-Area Coach of the Year accolades.
