Bazco Oil’s proposal subject of March 24 public hearing
ATTICA TWP. — The northwest corner of Lake Pleasant and Newark roads could soon become the site of a full-service truck stop.
The 13-acre site is owned by G M&M Properties, L.L.C. of Lapeer and proposed to be developed by Bazco Oil Holdings, who plan to build a combined gasoline service center and drive-thru restaurant at the location.
On Thursday, March 24, the Attica Township Planning Commission will host a 7 p.m. public hearing to receive comments regarding Bazco’s request for special land use and site plan review. The property is currently zoned B-2 General Business.
Attica Twp. Supervisor Al Ochadleus said Bazco had approached the township about the proposed project last July.
“They’ve cleared out the site and want to move forward ASAP,” Ochadleus said. “We support the project, but there are still some open issues and loose ends that need tying up.”
Thus far, Ochadleus has not been informed of the specific gasoline brand or restaurant chain to occupy the site.
However, he believes Bazco will offer a convenience store, showers for drivers, and charging stations for electric vehicles. Site plans show a 7,020 square foot service center, ten fuel stations, five diesel fuel stations and dozens of parking spots for both vehicles and trucks. The facility would be accessible from both Newark and Lake Pleasant roads.
New Haven-based Bazco Oil Company offers a variety of successful brands, which include Citgo, Sunoco, Valero, BP, Marathon, and VP-Racing.
Representatives from Bazco could not be reached for comment by press time.
