Jack Rau, age 90, of Attica, MI died Friday, March 4, 2022 at home in Attica. John J. Rau was born May 10, 1931 in Lapeer, MI. He was the son of the late John G. and the late Lydia (Englehardt) Rau. Jack was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1950. He attended Lawrence Technical University to study automotive engineering. He has lived most of his life in Attica Township, MI. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1951-1955. Jack married Bernice Zehr on August 23, 1959 in Attica, MI.
He was a millwright at Pontiac Motors, a Division of General Motors, for 31 years. He retired from Pontiac Motors in the late 1980s. Jack enjoyed reading, traveling, playing the dulcimer, and planting his strawberries. He had a nice little vineyard. Jack also enjoyed collecting things; especially old foreign cars.
Jack is survived by his wife, Bernice Rau of Attica; daughters, Diane (David) Baker of Nashville, OH and Julie (Steve Godo) Rau of Metamora, MI. Also surviving are grandchildren, Joseph Ramirez, Cody Ramirez, Mariah Bates, Ishmael Ramirez; his great-grandchildren, Bartholomew and Vincent; and several in-laws from the Zehr family.
Jack was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Ramirez; and his sister, Eunice (Loren) Smith.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Bethany Mennonite Cemetery, on Hunters Creek Rd. (between Winslow and Summers Roads), Attica, MI.
Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
