ALMONT — Almont handed North Branch a 43-28 setback in a Division 2 boys’ district basketball opening round clash Monday night.
Imlay City High School is where the action unfolded.
With the outcome, Almont (12-9) advances to Wednesday’s semifinals where it will play Imlay City. That matchup lists a 7 p.m. starting time.
In Monday’s clash, Almont spotted North Branch a 9-7 edge after one quarter and trailed 22-16 at the half.
Almont then bounced back with a 27-6 second half advantage, earning a 43-28 win at North Branch’s expense.
Blake Campbell (16 points, including three trifectas) paced Almont’s scoring attack. He was backed by Logan Walton (11 points), Matthew Measel (seven, featuring a trey), Clay Roszczewski (six) and Rich Rockey (a triple).
