ALMONT — Almont 100-pounder Maria Stanton saw to it her season would continue, registering a second at a girls’ wrestling sectional hosted by Howell High School last Sunday.
With her finish, Stanton advances to the state finals set for March 4-5 at Detroit’s Ford Field.
Stanton started things off with a bye.
She then stopped Alma’s Sophia Clapp with 22 seconds gone; pinned John Glenn’s Bianca Megdanoff with 42 seconds elapsed; and stopped Stevenson’s Kennedy Perez with 3:29 gone.
That placed her in the title match where Saline’s Emma Hicks provided her opposition, That bout drew to a close with Hicks up by a 10-8 count.
