The Almont Community Historical Society is pleased to announce the successful completion of our fundraising campaign for the purchase of a tuba for the “Royal Rubes.”

We slightly exceeded our goal of $1,500.

“Royal Rube” director Mike Swanger and his son, Ian, drove to Youngstown, Ohio to pick up the tuba on December 23. The tuba is a Conn Double B-flat, three-valve tuba.

Additionally, the tuba has been cleaned and minor repairs done.

The accompanying photo shows tuba/trombone player, Gloria Bublitz playing the tuba at a group practice session.

We wish to thank all those persons who donated to this worthy project.

The “Royal Rubes” are still in need of additional members. If you would like to participate, contact me at the museum on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and I’ll get you in contact with the director.
