CAPAC — The Capac varsity girls’ basketball team fell four points short when the final scores were tallied, dropping a 30-26 verdict to visiting greater Thumb Conference rival Brown City in a Snowcoming matchup it hosted last Friday night.
In Friday’s matchup, Capac took an 8-6 edge after one quarter was over with.
The next quarter saw Brown City generate 11 points and Capac manage none, leaving them up 17-8 at the half.
When the action resumed, Capac bounced back with a 7-4 third quarter edge. That trimmed their deficit to 21-15 with 24 minutes gone.
Capac then put together a 11-9 fourth quarter rally, only to drop a 30-26 verdict.
Juliana Closurdo paced Capac with seven points. The Chiefs also had Erica Yeashevich (six points, including a trifecta), Julia Schaefer (six), Chloe Schocke (a trey) plus Jillian Bussone and Mikayla Phillips (two each) reach the scoring column.
