ALMONT — Almont downed visiting Algonac, 33-22, in a  Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls’ basketball contest on Tuesday, January 18.

With the decision, Almont improves to 3-6 and 2-3. Algonac slips to 5-6 and and 2-4.

In Tuesday’s contest, Almont jumped out to an 8-2 advantage after one quarter was complete.

The middle two quarters saw Almont net 17 total points and Algonac manage 16, leaving them up 25-18 with 24 minutes gone.

Almont then outscored Algonac 8-5 the rest of the way, assuring themselves of a 33-23 win.

Brandi Zimmer led Almont with 10 points. The Raiders also had Grace Koenig (eight points), Lydia Lacavera (seven, featuring a trey), Grace Johnson (four) plus Lizzy Brandt and Ava Panduren (two each) reach the scoring column.
