Diane Jane Feys, age 82, passed away on January 10, 2022. She was born in Detroit, MI on January 3, 1940 to Stanley and Ruth (Henry) Sobocienski. After graduating from Denby High School, Diane attended Western Michigan University to become a home economics teacher. Diane went on to teach at Utica Community Schools for 30-plus years, doing what she loved– “teaching kids” essential life skills such as cooking, sewing and parenting skills. One of her college roommates introduced her to what would be the love of her life, Achiel “Silk” Feys. Diane and Silk married in 1963 and had two children, Dale (Cheryl) Feys of Almont and Duane (Jen) Feys of Ray Township. After retirement, she became a wonderful and loving “Nina” to her four grandchildren, Kara, Jack, Maddie and Bree, who she instilled the skill and importance of how to set a proper dining table, keeping the home economics teacher alive in her heart.
Diane had many hobbies throughout her long and happy life. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, traveling the world with Silk, going to their home in North Carolina as well as spending time with friends and family who she could have not lived without.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Stanley; and her beloved husband, Achiel.
Diane is survived by her two children and four grandchildren; her brother, John (Pat) Soby of Rockport, TX; as well as many friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Oakleigh of Macomb Assisted Living who helped Diane for the past year.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan or Gift of Life Michigan.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 14, 2022 from 11 a.m. to noon at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden with funeral Mass at noon. Fr. Mike Gawlowski will officiate.
Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home-Almont.
